Bachelor party a success!

So my brother is getting married.  I’m the best man, so I decided to throw him a bachelor party.  It was so much fun.  Me and my bro bought $120 worth of liquor and drank almost all of it.  Me and the group drank over twenty pitchers and had a good old time.  We did do other things besides drinking…for example, we played disc golf.   It was incredible, but my brother got a hole in one on the second hole.  It was the most amazing thing that I’ve seen in a long time.  Anyways, I’m feeling a lot better now (probably at about 90%).  I’m hoping that this week the pneumonia will become nothing more then a distant memory.  I’ve noticed that since I’ve been drinking this Coca-Cola, a 24 ounce coke, I’m becoming hyper as hell.  I don’t drink a lot of pop.. so it is making me ramble.  Ok done.

Pneumonia, I think I’ve thrown’ya

I spent the last week experiencing the spectrum of symptoms pneumonia affords.  Last Tuesday, I said to my friend Drew at about 9 PM that I felt a little out of it.  That ‘out of sorts feeling’ (much like being high) evolved into extreme fatigue the next day and I had to take the afternoon off.  That day I slept more then I ever did in my entire life.  Out of nowhere, I slept from one in the afternoon until seven am the next morning.  I toughed out the next two days at work the best I could.  On Friday night I was having a lot of trouble breathing and was running a fever.  Saturday and Sunday were the worse; I had screaming headaches, was too fatigued to move even a muscle, insane night sweats, a high fever, a shortness of breath, pain when I would breathe at all, I could not eat, and I was nauseous.  I figured I was literally on the path to dying so I went to the doctor and got the antibiotics.  I haven’t smoked, drank alcohol, or drank coffee all week.  I can feel a difference in the way I can breathe today now that the symptoms are beginning to disappear one by one.  I like the way I feel now.  I’m going to try and cut back a bit on the smoking, life is too short.

My little brother emailed me today saying he is planning on joining the front lines in Iraq. He wants to get into boot camp as early as August 18th.  I gave him some older brother advice on this one, but I knew it was for not.  He is a very independent thinker.

From the Mother Land…

It feels good to be back home in Wisconsin.  My eye is almost back to normal now.  I guess I have a lot going for me.  I’ve been working to book a show a 7th St Entry.  I got a few bands lined up ready to go including the Safes and the Men Who Control the Weather.  Unfortunately, the venue hasn’t yet returned my email.  We’ve played there once before and it went quite well, perhaps you where there.  It would be awesome if this show gets picked up.  It is funny, when I contact venues about getting my band to play their bar, I always try to sell the band as being really good.  The truth is, I think that we are pretty damn good; we just dont have the creditentials (no album, no merch, relatively limited gigging exp).  I tell friends that in this business if you want to get shows you can’t have any shame….then again you can’t polish a turd either.

Catching the big one.

The other day, me and my family went on a fishing trip to Lake Michigan.  We hit the water at four in the morning.  It was a lot of fun.  Before we hit the water, everyone was talking about how sick you will get if it is your first time out in the water.  I had never been on out on the open water before so I took some of my step sister’s prescription “don’t let me get sea sick” pills.  It seemed to work.  However, today one of my eyes is dialated and the other is not.  I’m kind of scared, but not too much.  The internet tells me that it will go away soon.  Not the most reliable source of medical advice, but it will have to do for now.  Anyways, I ended up catching four huge fish.  One salmon was about 20 pounds and maybe 30″ long.  It took me about 20 minutes just to fight that bastard to the boat.  I honestly almost admitted defeat and let the fish go.  Finally, once I got it into the net, my arms and hands were all cramped up.  Props to my rival fish; a four year old salmon with a three second memory.  Hopefully pictures to come.
